About Kanwar Yatra 2025

Kanwar Yatra is one of the largest religious pilgrimages in India, where millions of devotees — known as Kanwariyas — carry holy Ganga Jal from sacred rivers like the Ganges in Haridwar, Gaumukh, and Sultanganj, walking hundreds of kilometers back to their hometowns. In 2025, the yatra is expected to begin during the holy month of Sawan, which starts on 11 July and ends on 9 August 2025, with Shravan Shivratri falling on 23 July 2025 — the most auspicious day for Jal Abhishek.

The yatra is not just a journey, but a spiritual experience — filled with faith, chants of "Bol Bam", and a spirit of unity. Whether youre a first-time participant or a regular Kanwariya, this guide will help you plan your route, locate rest camps (shivirs), and stay safe throughout your sacred journey.

We’re here to help! You can reach out to us anytime, or join our Instagram groups or leave comments to connect with other yatris, ask questions, and stay updated during the season.

Can I take kids or elderly family members?

You can, if they’re physically okay and used to walking. For elders or kids, consider shorter distances or a Dak Kanwar (on a vehicle). Just be gentle and practical.

I’ve never done this before. Any advice?

Start slow, stay hydrated, and take breaks often. Don’t feel pressured to match others — your journey is your own. Chant calmly, walk mindfully, and enjoy the vibe. It’s a beautiful mix of devotion, discipline, and community.
